Car battery replacement in Visakhapatnam: what to know before you go

Amaron PRO car battery

A car battery rarely fails without warning. The engine cranks a little slower, the headlights dip when the air conditioner starts, or the car needs two tries on a cold morning. Here is how to confirm the battery is the problem and how to get the right replacement the first time.

First, confirm it is the battery

Check the age printed or stamped on the battery. Many car batteries need replacing after a few years of use, depending on climate, driving pattern and the battery itself. With a multimeter and the engine off for a few hours, a healthy fully charged lead-acid battery reads about 12.6 V. Readings near 12.0 V or lower mean it is badly discharged. If a recharge does not bring it back, or it goes flat again within days, the battery is probably worn out. If it keeps going flat while it still tests well, have the charging system and any electrical drain checked.

Carry these details

  • Make, model, variant, year and fuel type (petrol, diesel, CNG).
  • Whether the car has an idle start-stop system.
  • The code on your current battery label, if you can read it. Our guide on reading a car battery label helps.
  • A photo of the current battery in its tray, showing the terminals.

Match size, terminals and capacity

The battery must physically fit the tray, the positive terminal must sit on the correct side, and the capacity (Ah) should be at least what the carmaker specifies. Cars with start-stop systems need a battery designed for that duty, as explained in start-stop car batteries explained. Use the battery-by-vehicle pages or the finder to see the models listed for your car, then confirm with us.

After the swap

Some modern cars lose clock, radio or window-auto-up settings when the battery is disconnected, and a few need a relearn procedure. Ask about this if your car is recent. Keep the invoice and warranty card together.
